To create a landmark event in Brownsville, the Market Streets Arts Festival has developed a weekend of activities uniting the arts, history and green initiatives to commemorate our town's role as the only riverfront community along Pennsylvania's 90 miles of National Road.
The third annual Market Street Arts Festival will be held May 17-19 in conjunction with the 2013 National Road Festival. The family-oriented weekend will feature:
■ working demonstrations by artists, who also will be selling their wares
■ ethnic food booths
■ tours of historic churches
■ local and regional living history
■ juiried art and photography exhibits in historic buildings and museums
■ concerts, strolling musicians
■ children's activity area
■ writing, visual arts, and musical composition awards ceremony
■ river-related activities
